10 tips for finding your inner beauty

10 tips for finding your inner beauty

by Teo Kai Wen 26 Jan 2020

Let’s face it: as much as popular media preaches that everyone is beautiful in their own way, it’s difficult to keep such words mind when you don’t exactly have the face and body of a supermodel – and that’s fine! Everyone has days when they’re less than happy with their appearance. Instead of focusing on your outward appearance, try these tips to bring out your inner attraction, and maybe even improve yourself while you’re at it!

1. Being musically talented

A 2014 study ranking different types of creativity by sex appeal found that being a musician was one of the top qualities men were attracted to, so don’t be afraid to show off your golden pipes given the chance!

2. Communicating openly

Playing hard-to-get may be considered a classic method of getting your dream partner, but a 2016 study showed that showing understanding of another person’s emotions made subjects more attractive, so don’t be afraid to talk it out.

3. Nailing a witty comeback

Being able to banter with others – whether in person or via an online dating app – was seen as an attractive quality. A playful back-and-forth can also make first meetings less awkward.

4. Being kind

Being kind is simple, free of charge, and the right thing to do, if you aren’t already on board. As an added bonus, it also boosts your attractiveness, but beware, because the opposite is true for people who are unkind.

5. Owning a dog

A survey found that women with dogs were perceived as being more attractive than those with no pets. If you’ve got the time, resources, and love to spare, a trip down to your local shelter could be just what you need! Adopt, don’t shop!

6. Being charitable

Besides giving back to the community, being charitable is a trait that is also positively correlated with attractiveness. And who knows, you may even meet your future significant other at a charity event!

7. Having a sense of humour

A sense of humour, particularly one that shows you’re receptive to the other person’s, is something that both sexes find attractive. Don’t force yourself to laugh if a joke isn’t funny though – it may just be a sign that you don’t have a compatible sense of humour with the other.

8. Being a risk-taker

Fearlessness (not recklessness!) was a trait rated to be extremely attractive to the opposite sex, so step out of your comfort zone and try something new, but not at the expense of common sense or the law!

9. Playing sports

You don’t have to be a pro-athlete to enjoy sports, especially when it comes to a quick game with your friends or peers. Not only will you be able to work towards a healthier lifestyle, you’ll appear more attractive while you do it!

10. Being spontaneous

This tip speaks for itself: who doesn’t dream of a spontaneous romantic getaway with their significant others? As a bonus, spontaneity is also seen as an attractive trait to have, so let your hair down and go with the flow every once in a while!

At the end of the day, don’t forget that harnessing your inner attraction is not just about making yourself attractive to others, but also about bettering yourself so that the person in the mirror becomes someone you’re proud of. Love yourself first, and other will follow!
