3 ways to give yourself a kick in the rear

As human beings, we all need the occasional reminder to keep going. Changing ourselves for the better is rarely a linear process, and chances are that there will be just as many (if not more) downs than ups. When what starts as a race car rearing to go trundles to a crawl, try some of these tips to rediscover what you are truly capable of.

 

  • Cleanse

The idea of a cleanse is definitely one of the top few trends associated with healthy and wellness.  During a cleanse, you can give your body a fresh start by ridding it of toxins and starting anew. By that same token, you can also give your bad lifestyle habit a cleanse by limiting social media usage, using more positive words in your vocabulary, spending more quality time with loved ones through creating memorable experiences, and more. Cleansing the mind is known to have a restorative effect, leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to take on new challenges.

 

  • Take chances

Opportunities are everywhere, and it is entirely up to you as an individual to recognise and take charge of it. Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new can allow you to gain a new perspective on life and reveal paths you never thought existed before. Yes – it can be risky, which is why the risks you take should always be calculated. But never be afraid of taking a chance on something, especially if it could turn out to be an enriching experience.

 

  • Quit stalling

Pushing back a dentist appointment, delaying your travel plans due to work, stalling for time before pursuing a degree – these are all things that we may have been guilty of at one point in time or another. Nothing kills motivation faster than procrastination, so don’t give it time to take root. If you have been wanting to embark on a new venture, start small but start now. Commit yourself to the task with the intent on seeing it through. Even if you fail somewhere along the way, you stand to learn something about yourself than no one else would be able to teach or show you, which ultimately forms a stepping stone to future success.

 

Done properly, a nudge in the right direction can propel you towards greater gains in self-improvement. Even the best of us are not immune to the effects of ennui, so we should always be prepared to “stoke the flames” every now and then. At the core of it all, always remind yourself of why you started in the first place, how far you’ve come and how much further you have to go.
