Dining out at Jurong East

Dining out at Jurong East

by Kesavan Loganathan 02 Feb 2020

Jurong East used to be just another station at the wild west of Singapore. Years have passed and now we’re looking at quite possible the next “Town” of Singapore with multiple malls and new infrastructure popping up around the huge area. As one would expect, many great restaurants have opened up within these malls, here are just 3 of these restaurants that are friends or family worthy to try.

3 Gateway drive, #01-05 West Gate

Nothing quite fits the bill as a bakery/restaurant as much as Paul maison de qualite (or just Paul) located on the first floor of West gate. As its name would probably inform you, it is a French restaurant that I’d say specializes in brunch items. If you’re looking for some quality healthy French food, this place has got to be one of the top restaurants on your list. The items on their menu are extremely unique and can be pretty hard to find elsewhere. Some examples would be their Palllasson Saumon Fume (Smoked Salmon, yogurt spread over potato pancakes) and their Croque Madame (Their very own version of the classic ham and cheese sandwich). I decided to try their Cod in Mediterranean sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection and had a crispy skin texture to it. It was paired with a nice sweet and sour tomato based sauce which added to the overall flavour of the dish. With plenty more of unique French dishes on the menu, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a perfect one for your own tastes. Head on down to taste some of their fine food!

Nature Café

8 Boon Lay Way, #01-29 TradeHub 21

You can’t look beyond this restaurant if you’re looking for some clean and green food. Nature café is located at TradeHub 21 which is in the Jurong East area. Nature café serves up a mixture of western and oriental vegetarian cuisine. Their menu consists of unique fusion dishes that include stuff like Green Curry Kuay Teow. Other top dishes I’d recommend would be their vegetarian pineapple fried rice, vegetarian rojak and spicy mushroom noodle soup. All these dishes are great for those looking to alter their diet and make it a point to create new wholesome healthy meal. Even though the meals are all vegetarian, the taste more than makes up for the fact that there is no meat served here. I’m a huge fan of our local plethora of food and thai curries, so you could probably guess based on those 2 factors, on which dish I ordered. The green curry kuay teow was, without a doubt, an amazing experience for my tongue. You might think that the gravy wouldn’t suit the dish but I must say it goes perfectly well. Check out the restaurant as soon as you can to go through a great gastronomic experience.

The Soup Spoon

50 Jurong Gateway Road, #02-05 JEM

The final entry on our list of healthy restaurants would have to go to The Soup Spoon located at JEM which can be found along 50 Jurong Gateway Road. As its name suggests, most of the items that can be found here are mainly soups and stews which they specialize in. These go great with the buns that they provide alongside your soup choice. Some of the great choices they have on their menu would be the Mexican chicken tortilla soup, prosperity black pepper beef stew and the classic chicken and mushroom ragout. They also add alternatives like salad and various kinds of wraps to offer variety on their menu. I paired my Mexican Chicken Tortilla soup with a nice vegetarian sandwich. The hearty meal was enough to perk my day up and add a little flavour into my life, if that says anything at all. Do visit this restaurant to check out what they have to offer.

Let me guess. You want Paul’s delicious and unique French food but can’t make the trip down? Fret not, Deliveroo has your back! Order your favourite dishes now and get them delivered to your doorstep within minutes.
