Have your cookie dough and eat it too!

One of the best parts about making your own cookies is that you get to indulge in a whole lot of cookie dough. This health-yet-decadent snack not only tastes rich, but is also chewy. If you have got bits of chocolate and nuts in it, even better!


Making your own cookie dough definitely sounds like a far better alternative to the unhealthy pre-made cookie dough that you tend to find in supermarkets. The recipe below is free from refined sugars, gluten and dairy as well.



  • 2 cups of frozen cauliflower florets
  • 3 Medjool dates (pitted)
  • 1 tbsp of unsweetened peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp of unsweetened almond/cashew nut butter
  • 1 tbsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt
  • ½ cup of non-dairy milk
  • 2 tbsp of toasted peanuts (chopped)


The smoothie is incredibly easy to make. Once you have prepared the ingredients above, simply combine all, except the peanuts, into a blender. Put the finishing touch by pulsing the peanuts into the mixture to distribute them. Once you’re ready to serve, drizzle a bit of additional nut butter on top and garnish with your favourite toppings.


Despite being moderately heavy in terms of calories, this cookie dough is no slouch in the nutrition department either. The cauliflower aids in detoxification, and the nut butter contains plenty of nourishing mono-unsaturated fat. Medjool dates are also a great nutrient-dense sweetener that come packed with potassium. All in all, you’re getting a pretty good bang for your buck!


You can try adding a bit of variety to the recipe by adding raw honey, or by trying a different nut butter. You can also change up the milk ratio if you want something a tad creamier. That’s the great thing about this cookie dough recipe – there are endless possibilities with what you can do with it!
