There’s no better place to go to for a nature-themed retreat than the lush, green city of Bandung in Indonesia. You don’t even have to rough it out in the wild for an authentic wilderness experience. At one of these lovely nature-themed cafes, you can immerse yourself in nature whilst indulging in a quality dining experience.
1. Kampung Daun
Perumahan Villa Triniti Blok RR1 Jl. Sersan Bajuri No.88 Km.4,7, Cihideung, Parongpong, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40154, Indonesia
Kampung Daun is definitely one of the top choices for an authentic Indonesian nature café. Designed to mimic the trappings a traditional village, the entire area simply oozes tropical vibes. Enjoy a traditional Sundanese meal wrapped in fragrant banana leaves while basking in the sounds of gushing streams and birds singing!
Jalan Grand Hotel No.33E, Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40391, Indonesia
Soak up a unique cultural experience at the Floating Market, where traditional West Javanese food is sold straight out of boats along the lake. Chow down on dishes like otak otak while sailing in a boat or relaxing in a gazebo by the lake – it will be a remarkable experience either way!
Kampung Pagermaneuh, RT. 03/07, Pagerwangi, Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40391, Indonesia
This café is so aptly named for its panoramic forest view that you can delight in, all from the cosy comfort of the café’s outdoor tents. Be sure to try the local delicacy, the Luwak coffee, which is brewed from beans that have been partially digested by the Asian civet cat.
Jl. Terusan Sersan Bajuri, Cihideung, Parongpong, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40154, Indonesia
Unlike the other cafés mentioned previously, this elegant café located within Stevie G Hotel serves a Western-inspired menu with Italian dishes and a wide array of cocktails. The scenic views from the rooftop bar will give you a wine-and-dine experience you won’t soon forget.
Jl. Ranca Kendal Luhur No.8 Dago, Ciburial, Cibeunying Kaler, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40191, Indonesia
Nested amongst lush, tropical greenery, this 3-storey café building is adorned with beautiful wood-themed furniture to create a rustic dining experience. Congo Gallery & Café is more than just a place to enjoy a meal – you can also explore their art gallery or marvel at the view of the city from the rooftop seats. PS: You will need to spend at least one million rupiah (~$70) to get a seat on the roof but the view is definitely well worth the price of admission!
A back-to-nature getaway definitely isn’t complete if you don't dine at a nature-themed café. Bandung is hands-down the best place to go for such an experience, so be sure to make a stop here on your next holiday to Indonesia!
