Top picks in Busan – Beaches

Many readers might be familiar with the city of Busan thanks to the chart-topping zombie-thriller Train to Busan, but the movie does no justice to the city's natural beauty and its wide range of picturesque mountains, traditional temples and most importantly, the stunning beaches. If you ever find yourself in Busan, don’t miss out on the chance to visit some of these gorgeous sandy sprawls:

1. Haeundae Beach

Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea

If you only have enough time to visit just one beach in Busan, it has to be Haeundae. This popular spot is famous for being the biggest party beach in Busan, so it’s also where all the main attractions are located. There is no shortage of bars, clubs, food places and overnight hostels along this beach, making it the perfect place for domestic and international travellers alike. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to catch a local art or music event when you’re there!

2. Songjeong Beach

Songjeong-dong, Busan, South Korea

If crowded beaches are not really your thing, check out Songjeong instead. This cosy beach is the perfect holiday spot for families to chill out and for surfers to get some action on the big waves. Songjeong also has great fishing spots so if your idea of a relaxing day is more geared towards fishing rather than partying, be sure to mark a date for Songjeong in your itinerary!

3. Dadaepo Beach

680 Dadae-ro, Dadae-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, South Korea

Dadaepo may be rather far from the city centre and is generally quieter than the previous two beaches, but your time here will definitely be well spent if you are a true nature lover. Pack a basket dinner and catch the breathtaking sunset at the beach or venture further up the coast to visit the natural marshlands – it promises to be a mesmerising experience either way!

Busan’s beaches may not be as famous as Hawaii or the Maldives, but they are uniquely beautiful in their own way. If you’re travelling or living in Busan, do take a day (or two) off to relax by the beach – it will definitely earn its place as one of the highlights of your time there!
