Here are some great ideas to keep your children, overseas guests and yourself entertained with some of the island’s best attractions and unconventional dining experiences.

Stay Active

Urban Ski

Always wanted to take up an extreme winter sport? Here’s your chance with Urban Ski, an indoor activity centre where you can pick up the basics of skiing or snowboarding without facing the frigid cold. Sign up for a lesson and test your skills on the conveyor belt, which simulates a slope customisable to different levels. Children as young as four can partake in ski lessons and anyone eight years or older can take up snowboarding. Don’t worry about the gear as all equipment is provided, including a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads for safety.

Singapore Sports Hub

As the name suggest, Singapore Sports Hub offers a whole host of activities, home to countless options for adventure seekers, sports enthusiasts and enquiring minds alike. Easily accessible by public transport, Singapore Sports Hub is one of the most underrated spots on the island.

Surf the man made wave or scale the indoor rock climbing wall for an adrenaline rush. Bring your skills to the outdoor skate park, basketball courts and beach volleyball stations. An indoor running track, badminton and volleyball courts are available for some physical activity with shelter from the elements. The pool hosts aquatic fitness classes, swimming lessons and even scuba diving courses.  For a more relaxing visit, stop by the library, sports museum or chill out on the lazy river. There’s even a shopping mall and food court to cover all the bases.

Flight Experience Flight Simulator

The aviation enthusiast can hop in a replica cockpit of a Boeing 737-800 and see what it feels like to take off from their favourite airport. Guided by your first officer, a real pilot, you’ll receive the best training from qualified professionals. Great for children, adults and even team building exercises at the cooperate level, Flight Experience is one you’ll never forget.

The Karting Arena

Engage in some friendly competition and race around Singapore’s first electric go-karting track. Free of fumes typical to other racing tracks, the air is fresh in this environmentally friendly arena. It may not seem like a very physical activity but those who have tried will tell you that you’ll be using plenty of strength to steer the wheel while the drive will have your heart racing. Group bookings can be arranged so don’t be shy to bring to your party to the track.

A driver’s license is not required to drive at a speed of 30mph, while those with their license can cruise up to 50mph. Drivers as young as nine years old are welcome when accompanied with a parent or guardian so bring the entire family. Note that there is a height requirement of 1.4m and all participants must be wearing closed toe shoes.

Sentosa – Fort Siloso Sky Walk

After spending the day at the beach club or playing a friendly game of volleyball, take a stroll 11 storeys above ground on the Skywalk and head over to Fort Siloso. Catch the sunset and soak in the beautiful views high up. The best part is that this attraction is now completely free!

Smith Marine Kelong

Hop on a bumboat and head over to Smith Marine Kelong, Singapore’s first floating restaurant serving up some of the freshest seafood you can find. The restaurant also offers you the option to catch your own fish and have it freshly prepared by their chef onsite or bring it home to enjoy it later.

Float @ the Bay

Sticking with the water theme, have an elegant four course meal while coasting down the Singapore River. If cruising is not your thing, have a drink at their floating bar for a refreshing change. The bar is open daily and dinner cruises depart Thursday through Saturday, reservations required. Charter a private boat for your party needs!

Gourmet Safari Express

Dine among the creatures of the night on the Gourmet Safari Express. As you make your way through the seven animal kingdoms, indulge in a five course dinner complete with free flowing soft drinks, juices, beer and wine. As the meal winds down, be treated to the popular Creatures of the Night show and take home an exclusive souvenir. Book your dinner at least one week in advance to secure your spot on the tram.

A dining experience like no other, this theatrical meal will keep you on your toes, fully engaged and deeply submerged into the feast. Once your ticket is booked, all you need to do is wait for clues on how to reach the secret location as it is revealed on the day of the dinner. Diners will leave with an unforgettable experience and secrets of the society. Sign up to be the first to know about upcoming events.

Pack your days with the numerous activities around the island and satisfy your hunger with some unconventional restaurants with friends, families or visitors.
